Global warming is the front and center topic of many policy discussions around the world. Often the policy ideas being discussed and promoted have the potential to radically change modern societies, as well as change how less developed societies progress.
On one side of the debate, global warming is very real, a result of manmade greenhouse gas emissions, and threatens to do great harm to environments and mankind. Mankind must act globally to reduce greenhouse gas emissions before it is too late.
On the other side of the debate, climate change is the preferred nomenclature. Those using the term climate change believe that climate is always changing as a result of a variety of naturally occurring influences such as solar emissions. The world has been warmer in the past and the world has been cooler in the past, all before man's industrialization over the last few centuries. Man, therefore, needs to be in the best position to adapt to a changing climate rather than attempt to alter the climate.
Climate Change 101 presents information that gives an overview of the climate change vs. global warming debate. Since arguments promoting the idea of global warming are given a greater voice in the mainstream media, this section devotes more resources to the climate change side of the argument.
